HOW TO TIE KNOTS – CARRICK BEND

The Carrick Bend is a very aesthetic knot that’s probably mostly used as a decorative knot. It’s original purpose however is to join two lines. It work especially well for inflexible heavy ropes, wires and cables and doesn’t jam, no matter the strain it’s put under.

1. With line A, create a crossing turn, crossing the working end on top of the standing end. Pass line B over the crossing turn of line A, under the standing end of line A and over the working end of line A.

2. Take the working end of line B and pass it under the the crossing turn of line A, over the standing end of line B and under the crossing turn of line A in one straight line.
